A Chippendale Cherry Carved Scroll-Top Chest-On-Chest
Connecticut, Circa 1775
the upper case with urn-form finials over pair of rosettes above a fan-carved drawer and arrangement of seven drawers; the lower case with three long drawers; all raised on a bracket base.
Height 84 1/2 x width 40 x depth 20 1/2 inches.
Condition
refinished, but with nice even surface, present well; the drawer faces with patched or repairs to edges or corners throughout; repaired break to bottom of center part of pediment, and to right-facing top edge of broken arch; repaired break to back edge of left-facing side of top section; a chip / loss to upper left corner of left-facing side cornice; brasses are replaced, with additional screw holes present; minor paint transfer to left-facing feet; finials with some scuffing; includes small envelope with some chipped wood pieces; some age cracks to side panels; slight looseness to some backboards
